Scale Replica
Scale Model Cars, tanks & Helicopters
About
David Da Costa began modeling plastic tanks and aircraft as a boy in Bournemouth, England. In 1992 he moved to New York City where his primary occupation was Managing Director of a financial software company. In 2005 he relocated to Los Angeles with his wife Francoise and realized his dream of establishing a full time modeling practice. Today he specializes in highly accurate models that capture not only the precise engineering but also the essence of the originals
While David’s initial interest was building cars and tanks, his focus is now remote control helicopters. His first was an Align Trex 450 where he found that flying an RC helicopter isn’t all that easy! His fleet now includes electric, nitro, gas models plus the most recent addition, the jet turbine powered Airstar Jetcopter SX. Along the way and after many hours of practice he’s become an accomplished RC helicopter pilot.
David is also webmaster for not only Scale Replicas, but also Digital Oceans and The World of David. Digital Oceans is a gallery for his underwater photography, and features images from the Caribbean, South Pacific, and Indonesia. The World of David is a blog that follows the construction of his large CNC router.
