CSM Revlock 10

CSM's Revlock engine governor allows you to get the maximum power and maximum control of your engine. RevLock locks your engine RPM to a pre-set speed for the smoothest hovering conditions, unrivaled rotor speed retention in aggressive 3-D flight, and maximum engine power and gyro gain.

CSM's RevLock is the only engine governor to use a digitally synthesized 'virtual engine' reference, which gives the most accurate RPM every flight.

Also recommended for beginners. RevLock reduces the need to alter throttle curves, and protects your equipment from over-revving.

Airstar Mongoose Governor Installation
page-2

I decided to install a governor on my Airstar Mongoose using the Stator Gator available from http://www.thestatorgator.com/ and the CSM Revlock 10 Stator Gator version that I purchased from Ron's Heliproz South.

Below is the Stator Gator and the CSM Revlock.

Stator Gator and CSM Revlock

The installation was pretty straight forward and started with removing the kill switch that is on the Zenoah RC260 and RC230 engines.  Do this carefully using your finger nails.

Zenoah kill switch

Here is the kill switch removed from the motor, just pull it out far enough to disconnect the two spade connectors.

On older engines the red lead from the engine goes to the side of the startor gator connector with the red dot, on newer engines like mine it is reversed and the red lead goes to the conenctor on the Stator Gator without the red dot.  If you are not sure whether your engine has the reveresed connections and before pushing the stator gator back into the kill switch hole,  run the sensor test on the CSM Revlock and if the sensor does not pass the test, then reverse the connectors.

The next step is to decide on a position to mount the CSM Revlock.  I choose the starboard side of my Mongoose.

The small grey box to the right of the Revlock is a Spektrum data logger.

The final piece to attach to the Mongoose was the Stator Gator electronics. This I attached on the port side behind the fuel tank.

and finally once you have tested the sensor with the Revlock and confirmed that you have connected the Stator Gator correctly you can push it carefully back into the Zenoah engine as shown below.

You connect the Stator Gator sensor to the terminal marked sensor on the Revlock.  You remove the throttle servo connector from the receiver and connect that to the Revlock terminal marked "servo", then connect the terminal marked receiver to the throttle channel on the receiver and optionally connect the terminal labelled "remote" to any availble channel on the receiver.  The remote channel allows you to change the head speed remotely from the radio.

That is the physical installation completed.  Now you just follow the instructions that come with the CSM Revlock to set up the Revlock and the radio.
